Through the
Brush and Bulky Item Collection (BABIC) program
City staff collects organic materials (yard debris) and routes all yard waste to be composted—not to the landfill. For every 100 cubic yards taken to be composted, Richardson obtains 10 tons of bulk compost in return. This rich compost is used for parks, the Sherrill Park golf course and road medians as needed for repairs or soil enrichment.
