Wildflower! 2010 was a record setting year for recycling with nearly 17 tons of recyclable materials collected, which was 69% of the overall waste.  The Public Services department's booth, pictured above, made recycling fun for kids during the music festival.

The Expo is a family friendly event, which provides numerous opportunities for Richardson residents to learn more about Green issues including clean energy production, energy efficient building methods, and more.

During Public Services Works Week, local school children played games to learn more about the importance of recycling and how the City provides recycling services.

Many families, scout troops, Homeowners Associations, and friends grouped together to clean up Richardson's parks and streams.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design encourages the conservation of natural resources during the development and use of a building. 


Richardson City Council members break ground on Brick Row, a recipient the 2007 CLIDE award for Transit-Oriented Developments.

Brick Row is a Transit-Oriented development that co-mingles residential and commercial development to reduce the need for travel.  Mixed-Use developments are considered to be pedestrian and commuter friendly, which make the nearby DART light rail station an appealing asset.

Fire Station #2 raises awareness of using LEED standards in future building projects.  In 2010, Richardson's Fire Station #2 received LEED Silver Certification.


Tree The Town kicked off April 18, 2010 with the ambitious goal of planting 50,000 trees in the City.

Tree The Town is a great opportunity for volunteers to build up Richardson's community.  Richardson Mayor Gary Slagel says that Tree The Town "promotes a sense of community identity and pride while helping to improve awareness of conservation and environmentally sustainable practices."
