The City of Richardson Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the maintenance of 1598 acres of land and 23.75 miles of trails. Including parks under construction, the city boasts 956 acres of parkland.

The other acreage is composed of:

37 acres along US 75
350 acres of medians
100 acres of roadside
12 acres of public building land
23 acres of ditches

In addition, the Park Maintenance Division is in charge of:

City street sweeping program
Urban Forestry Program
Set-up and dismantling of special events and festivals
Servicing of pools
Athletic field maintenance
Greenhouse operations
Street banner program
City Fountain Operation
