Recycle Program Richardson recyclables are collected by the City and taken to a local Materials Recovery Facility for processing. Each household is provided with recycling collection service one day each week. This collection will occur on one of the same days designated for regular trash collection. See map below to find your recycle collection day.

Recycling collection points for each home are the same as the regular trash collection points, which is usually in the alley. To ensure proper collection, place recyclables out by 7:00 a.m. On rainy days, please do not set out cardboard or newspaper (that is not in a blue bag).
Accepted Materials in Recycle Program The items below can all be placed in the blue bags: Plastics #1-5 and #7, Aluminum, Tin, Steel, Empty Aerosol Cans, Newspapers, Mixed Paper, Paper Grocery Bags, Magazines, Catalogs, Corrugated Cardboard, Paperboard/Chipboard, Phone Books, Junk Mail, Glass Containers (All Color Glass)

Recycle Drop Off Center Location of Drop-Off Center - Westside Pump Station 102 N. Cottonwood Dr. (Cottonwood Dr. and Beltline Rd.) The City of Richardson has a drop-off recycling center which is available to residents twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week. This center provides a place for all residents to recycle, whether or not they live in an area services by the blue bag “curbside” program.
Recycle Collection Make-Up Days for Holidays The City of Richardson provides to its residents holiday make-up days for recycling collection. This is for recycling only (no holiday make-up day is provided for regular trash collection). See the chart below for the recycle make-up day:

Electronics Recycling The City of Richardson and Retire PC have partnered up to offer residents of Richardson a way to recycle their old computer and electronics equipment. Effective July 1, 2009, computer monitors are $0.50 per pound. Note: Beginning August 1, 2010. Retire PC will begin charging 25 cents per pound for all electronics except computer monitors and televisions. They will remain at 50 cents per pound. All hard drives are wiped clean; however, if residents choose to have their hard drives destroyed, a $5 charge will apply. Retire PC is located at 1355 N. Glenville between Arapaho Rd. and Collins Blvd. They can be reached at (972) 231-6600 for any questions and items that they accept. They are open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
In addition, Retire PC now accepts televisions for recycling. Pricing for this service is based on the weight of the unit. For tabletop TVs, the cost is $0.50 per pound. For console TVs, the cost is $0.60 per pound.
