Bike Race

Divisions: A AA B BB C D

A nine mile ride where working as a team is the goal. The top male and female riders combine their times for ranking among companies. Registration is unlimited. (4 riders - 2 men, 2 women: 1 of which must be a Master's) Ride On!

Format:

Combination Team

  • There is no maximum number of entries for this event.

  • Each team will be provided with up to a maximum of 20 timing chips.
  • Complete team time will be the combined times of the 1st and 4th qualifying rider after they cross the finish line.

  • Incomplete teams will be figured into the standings only after tallying the scores of complete teams.

  • Medals will be awarded by teams. A total of 4 medals will be given to qualifying teams.

  • All riders will be awarded Participation Points.

  • Teams will be sent off in one minute increments. In staging teams for sendoff at the start, please stage the competitive team members at the front.

Riders who sign-up on race day will NOT be given a chip -
only a race bib to return at the finish line so that participation points may be awarded.

 

Complete team consists of 2 males and 2 females, with one member being a Master's (40 years or older as of Dec. 31 of current year). Verification of age will be required at check in.

9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. each day

 

**Coaches/Captains/Company Coordinators may pick up packets for their entire team provided that the individual has signed the roster. No signature - No packet - No exceptions! Please coordinate with your coach/captain/coordinator to see if they will handle the mass pick-up or not.

  • For Race Day Packet Pick-Up - please proceed inside of the Activity Center.
  • Please print the below “parking pass” and display on interior car dashboard.
   
Rain-Out:

This race will only be cancelled in the event of severe storms and/or lightning.
Rain Out Line (972) 744-4301 will be updated at 6:00 a.m. on the morning of race day.

   
Practice:

There will be no scheduled practices.

   
Check-In
Procedure :

Early Packet pick-up will be available for riders who wish to pick up their chip/bibs prior to race day. Pease see dates for details.

 

Race Day Packet Pick Up - Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to start time. Packets will be available for pick-up INSIDE the UT Dallas Activity Center. Registration will close at 7:45 am. Appropriate identification must be presented at the time of registration. A photo id with date of birth will be required at check in to verify age of Master's.

Scoring:

Team ranking for points will be the combined times of the 1st and 4th qualifying rider after they cross the finish line. A complete team will consist of the best (2) men and best (2) women (one of the four must be a Master). These individuals must be designated on roster prior to Event. Masters are participants who are 40 years or older as of December 31 of the current year.

Medals will be awarded by teams.

Incomplete teams will be figured into the standings only after tallying the scores of complete teams.

   
Participation
Points :

A complete team (2 men, 2 women, one participant being a Master) will earn 30 participation points. Each additional rider will earn one point. Incomplete teams will earn one point for each participant.

   
Governing
Body :

There is no general governing body for the event:

  • All riders who sign-up by the roster due date will receive a chip timing device. The chip will be read electronically as the rider crosses the designated finish line, and their time will be recorded.
  • Riders who sign-up on race day will only be given a race bib. As each rider crosses the finish line he/she will be responsible to hand the lower portion tag that is on their bib to the volunteer, so a participation point can be awarded to the company. Riders must hand in this tag no later than 30 minutes after the last rider has crossed the finish line.
  • Teams will be sent off in one minute increments. Staring sequence will be based on last years race times.
  • Individual times can be submitted on the roster. While these times are not mandatory they are recommended for proper start sequence.
  • Riders will not cut corners to deviate from designated course. Violators will be disqualified.
  • No outside aid is allowed, only riders entered in the event may render aid in the case of mechanical failure.
  • Water and first aid will be provided at the start and finish line, which is located on the UT Dallas campus.
   
Uniforms:

All riders MUST wear a protective helmet to compete.

There is no uniform requirement, but it is recommended that each company wear their Corporate Challenge shirts.
