CC'12: Pre-Season Preview #10 - Flag Football

Flag Football Captain Wayhmon (Earl) Thompson led his talented and battle-tested team to yet another Division A Flag Football medal in 2011, this time a Bronze. That makes four medals (2 Silver and 2 Bronze) in the last five years, with only a 4th place finish in 2009 breaking the string.

Despite this run of success, Earl is always on the lookout for new players. It’s unlikely we’ll be able to lure Brett Favre to work for BCBSTX (lol!) but Earl has hopes of finding a BCBSTX employee (or spouse) who has an arm like a cannon and can run like the wind! So‚Ķcome out and give it a try.

Women are welcome to play too. Our women footballers have made important contributions, like Shoniqa Miles’s sack for a safety in a memorable victory over Texas Instruments two years ago.

Earl is a Dallas native and an alumnus of Grambling State University. He has worked at BCBSTX for 13 years and is a computer operator III with mail service operations. He and his wife have a beautiful 6-year old daughter, Ke’Aira. Earl looks forward to the Flag Football competition in Corporate Challenge, not only because he loves the game but also because he gets to team up with co-workers he normally wouldn’t meet otherwise. Earl’s other interests are deep-sea fishing, bowling and basketball.
