Amir Omar currently serves as Council Member for the City of Richardson. He was elected to the Council representing Place 7 in 2009. He currently serves on the Methodist Richardson Medical Center Foundation Board, on the Executive Committee for the Richardson Young Professionals, and as a Chamber Ambassador. Omar is a member of the Richardson Rotary, Friends of the Richardson Library, Richardson Chamber of Commerce, and the Metroplex Technology Business Council. He was honored and given an award by the Richardson Chamber at their annual banquet in 2009 for his volunteer efforts within the community.
Omar is a graduate of Texas A&M University and was a member of the Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets. He graduated from Leadership Richardson Class 24, FBI Citizens Academy, Citizens Police Academy, Citizens Fire Academy, and is active in each of their alumni associations. He has worked in the telecom and technology solutions industry in a number of leadership roles over the last 10 years and today works for Verizon Wireless.
