Richardson Resident Without Power
June 12, 2009
There are approximately 2,800 residents who are currently without power due to the large storm that hit the North Texas Region on Wednesday evening. Oncor is working to restore power as quickly as possible, and a press release with additional information about Oncor's efforts is below. Based on the length of the power outages and the heat index reaching approximately 100 degrees, the City has opened a Cooling Station at Heights Recreation Center (711 W. Arapaho Road 75080).
The Cooling Station will be open from 1 p.m. today until 10 p.m. tonight and again tomorrow from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m, and will provide a cool place for citizens to come in and sit as well as get a bag or two of ice if they need it to take home to store medications or other necessary items.
As a reminder, city pools are open for their normal hours. And the library is open for their normal hours as well - free Internet access is available there.
Here is a list of hotel's that are offering special rates for people without power.
