Sparks will fly at the City of Richardson’s annual “Family Fourth Celebration” on Saturday, July 4, in Breckinridge Park. This traditional, patriotic salute is free and open to the entire community. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets and/or lawn chairs and enjoy the evening under the stars!
Event hours are 6:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.

Red, White, Blue...and Green? Yes, the City of Richardson is recycling at this year's Family Fourth Celebration! Help us in our "Going Green" efforts by placing your recyclable cans and bottles in the designated containers located throughout Breckinridge Park.
Attractions include strolling balloon artists, bounce houses, and a climbing wall for the kids! This year, the Star Spangled Safety Event aims to make the citizens of Richardson aware of Fire Safety, Crime Prevention and Emergency Preparedness through the means of information pamphlets, goody bags for children, and family fun with a fire truck slide and police car bounce house.
Food concessions available for those who wish to buy or supplement their picnic dinner:
- Hungry Howie's Pizza: fantastic pizza by the slice
- Bovine Dreams: Try some of Ben & Jerry’s wild flavored ice cream combinations. These udderly delicious and completely unexpected flavors will have you over the moooon.
- Ala Carte Catering featuring fajitas, quesadillas and skillet nachos
- Ronoco: snowcones, snowcones and more snowcones!
Stage entertainment:
- Day Job Refugees - 6:30 p.m.
- The Richardson Community Band - 8:45 p.m.
- Fireworks show – approximately 9:45 p.m. Once again, the show will feature eight colored Skylites choreographed to the fireworks and music score!
All entertainment takes place on the stage located near Entrance B.
On-site parking is very limited, so beginning at 6 p.m. on July 4th the City of Richardson will provide free round-trip DART shuttle service from the Rockwell-Collins International Campus located at the intersection of Renner and Shiloh roads.
Breckinridge Park is located just south of the intersection of Renner and Brand Roads in northeast Richardson and features 4.5 miles of multi-use trails, a 10-acre lake, 29 picnic areas and three pavilions. It’s the perfect place to enjoy an evening with family and friends while celebrating our nation’s independence!
This year, the baseball fields at Breckinridge Park will be under construction. Please stay out of the construction site, and enjoy your 4th of July celebration!
