Public & Semi-public Swimming Pool Inspesctions

The Health Department conducts inspections of public and semi-public swimming pools and spas.

An application for a pool permit must be submitted by all properties with public or semi- public pools.

Outdoor pools are inspected regularly throughout the swimming season. Indoor pools are inspected periodically year round. Inspections focus on all aspects of pools/spa operations including:

  • maintenance
  • construction
  • water clarity
  • chemical balance
  • fencing, filtration
  • safety equipment; and
  • warning signs

Proper training for persons responsible for the care and maintenance of public & semi-public swimming pools and spas is extremely important. Pool operators are encouraged to attend a CPO (Certified Pool Operator’s) course. Many pool supply companies as well as several local health departments offer classes.

Improperly maintained swimming pools (public OR private) can be reported to the City's 24 hour response line at 972-744-4111.
