  • The City of Richardson wildflower planting program started with a trial planting on Campbell Ridge Park in 1990.
  • By 1993, wildflowers were in most parks and on several medians.
  • The first Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival was held in 1993 at Breckinridge Park and in 2012 celebrated it's 20th Anniversary, which is now held at Galatyn Urban Park the third weekend in May.
  • In Spring of 1995, wildflower plantings were expanded to Central Expressway.
  • In Spring of 2000, designated beds were set along Central Expressway and Campbell Road.
  • Currently, the City of Richardson plants 100 acres of annual wildflowers in parks, medians, roadsides, and public buildings.
