The Friends of the Richardson Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity and a proud member of United for Libraries, a division of the American Library Association.
The Friends group was first organized in 1986. Ever since, the group has promoted the Library, reading, and the literary life of the City through funding and presentation of numerous Library and Friends programs: By funding the Library's annual Summer Reading Program; by purchasing book bags for the Library's BOOKbabble to Go kits and book sets for the Library's BOOKbabble and REAL Reads book clubs; and by offering reasonably-priced books and materials at their sale held in the spring and fall of each year.
In addition, the Friends support the community by volunteering at the City's Wildflower! festival, by sponsoring Little Free Libraries throughout Richardson, and by providing an annual scholarship to a student who volunteers at the Library.
