How does Trash Bash work?

Interested neighborhood groups, civic organizations, and individuals can register to de-litter an area of Richardson. The groups meet at their designated area the morning of the event and begin cleaning. Groups can arrive at 11 a.m. to take part in after-cleanup festivities including environmental exhibitors and light refreshments at Richardson City Hall located at 411 W. Arapaho Road.

How do I register?

Registration is available online at http://www.cor.net/TrashBash, or you may call our office to register at 972-744-4076.

Groups may choose a location that is close to them, or pick a location based on the size or ages of their group. Areas may include neighborhoods, streets, facilities (such as schools or shopping centers), creeks, parks or other areas of interest.

Does the City of Richardson provide any tools or equipment?

Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) provides trash bags and gloves to the participants. The City of Richardson provides blue recycle bags. A limited supply of litter tongs are available.

We will be distributing supplies the Thursday prior to Trash Bash from 5-7pm. The supply pick up is at Richardson City Hall, 411 W. Arapaho Rd. This is a come and go event, and only one person from your group needs to attend. Other arrangements can be made by calling 972-744-4076.

Does each person have to sign a release form?

Yes, anyone that participates must fill out a release form. We do have a group form available so everyone can sign on one form. You may drop off the forms at the supply pickup, or turn them in the day of the event when you come to City Hall.

Where do I put the trash/recycle bags after they are filled?

There will be containers available at City Hall for you to dispose of the filled trash and recycle bags. If you do not have a way to transport the filled bags, they may be left at the location you cleaned. If you cleaned a park area, leave the bags near the trash receptacles in the park. If you cleaned another area, place the bags close to the curb so they are easily accessible for waste disposal or recycle pick up. When you check in at City Hall for the event, inform the person at registration where you left the bags.

What can I put in the recycle bags?

Any recyclable material you collect may be placed in the blue bags. For more information on what is recyclable, go to http://www.cor.net/recycling.

What if I cannot participate on the day of Trash Bash, but still want to do a cleanup?

You may participate on a different day or time. Contact the Richardson Health Department by email TrashBash@cor.gov or by phone at 972- 744-4076.

Are there other ways to volunteer for the event?

Volunteers are needed at the event that will be held at City Hall. For more information please contact the Richardson Health Department by email TrashBash@cor.gov or by phone at 972-744-4078.
