Sparks will fly at the City of Richardson’s annual “Family 4th Celebration” on Monday, July 4, at Breckinridge Park. This traditional, patriotic salute is free and open to the entire community. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets and/or lawn chairs and enjoy the evening under the stars!
Event hours are 6:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.
In preparation for the City's Family Fourth Celebration at Breckinridge Park, please note that certain trails and the ring road on the A Complex will be temporarily closed July 2-5.
Red, White, Blue...and Green? Yes, the City of Richardson is recycling at this year's Family 4th Celebration! Help us in our "Going Green" efforts by placing your recyclable cans and bottles in the designated containers located throughout Breckinridge Park.
Attractions include strolling balloon artists, bounce houses, and a climbing wall for the kids! This year, the Star Spangled Safety Event aims to make the citizens of Richardson aware of Fire Safety, Crime Prevention and Emergency Preparedness through the means of information pamphlets, goody bags for children, and family fun with a fire truck slide and police car bounce house.

On-Site Parking and Free Shuttle Service
On-site parking is very limited at the Park, therefore the City of Richardson will provide free round-trip shuttle service starting at 6 p.m.. from the Rockwell-Collins International Campus located at the SE corner of Renner and Shiloh roads. The last shuttle will depart from Rockwell-Collins at approximately 9:15 p.m. Due to limited space, please bring only items that you can carry and place on your lap while riding the shuttle. Pets are not allowed on the shuttles, only service dogs.
Breckinridge Park is located just south of the intersection of Renner and Brand Roads in northeast Richardson and features 4.5 miles of multi-use trails, a 10-acre lake, 29 picnic areas and three pavilions. It’s the perfect place to enjoy an evening with family and friends while celebrating our nation’s independence!

The City of Richardson strives to ensure that Richardson’s Family Fourth is an accessible event. Breckinridge Park offers such accessible features as ADA trails, sidewalks and restrooms.
Beginning at 6:00 pm on Saturday, July 4th, the City will provide free shuttle service from the Rockwell Collins campus to parking lot B at Breckinridge Park. One of these shuttle buses is equipped with a lift for persons with mobility issues. For those with disability plates or placards, a limited number of disability parking spaces will be available at the Park's parking lots A and B.
Accommodation requests for persons with disabilities should be made at least 48 hours in advanced of the event by contacting Taylor Lough, ADA Coordinator, via phone at 972-744-4208, via email at ADACoordinator@cor.gov, or by appointment at 411 W. Arapaho Road, Richardson, TX 75080.
Inclement Weather Plan
The City of Richardson will monitor the weather prior to and during the event. Should there be a threat of severe weather in the vicinity, the event may be delayed or cancelled. If thunderstorms develop prior to the event, please call the event hotline at 972-744-4581 for the status of the fireworks display. If thunderstorms develop during the event, information on delays or cancellations will be announced from the stage. Should severe weather develop that could potentially affect the safety of the public, the City of Richardson may close the park and evacuation instructions will be announced throughout the park and/or from the Rockwell-Collins International shuttle site.
Please note the two closest storm shelters in proximity to Breckinridge Park are Schell Elementary – 5301 E. Renner Road (NW corner of Renner and Brand), and Miller Elementary – 5651 Coventry Drive. Both shelter locations are designated on the site map.
