PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG/ALCOHOL TESTING

As of October 1, 1992, the city of Richardson requires a pre-employment drug/alcohol test to be successfully passed prior to any job offer being finalized.


SATISFYING I.D. REQUIREMENTS
(Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986)

All city employees must comply with all federal government requirements. The City of Richardson participates in the Federal E-verify system of verifying identity and the right to work in the United States.

E-verify mandates that one of the items presented must be a picture ID.

In addition, The City of Richardson requires a valid Social Security Card or alternate I.D. to satisfy requirements for establishments of I.R.S. accounts.

CRIMINAL HISTORY

Criminal history checks are done on all newly hired employees. Applicants should truthfully answer all questions on the employment application regarding criminal history.

  • A criminal conviction does not disqualify you for most positions. What you were convicted of, and how long ago, are important.
  • Disclosure of probation or deferred adjudication will not disqualify you for most positions within the city of Richardson.

Disclosure of circumstances is a very important aspect of your application for employment.

Applicants who are selected for hire by the City of Richardson must authorize the City to conduct a criminal history records check. Refusal by an applicant to authorize a criminal history records check, will result in the applicant being disqualified for hire.
