The City Council presented a proclamation to the Richardson YMCA on Monday recognizing the organization’s 50th anniversary. The Richardson YMCA first operated out of a school gymnasium in 1963 and moved into its permanent home on Custer Road two years later. Fifty years later, programs at the Y are continuing to expand to serve Richardson families.
Richardson YMCA Executive Director Jeff Thomas presented a video to the Council that documents the Y’s history in Richardson and thanked the Council and City staff members for their support. Other Richardson YMCA 50th anniversary events this year have included a family picnic and the opportunity to sponsor a new tree on the Y’s campus. For more information, contact Thomas at email@example.com or 972-231-3424.
