Water Main Repairs
Posted Date: 7/29/2014 11:00 AM

At 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 Richardson water utility workers will shut off service to approximately 100 water customers located in the Duck Creek neighborhood in order to repair a 20-inch water main located just south of the intersection of Apollo Road and Yale Boulevard.

It will be necessary to close one southbound lane of traffic on Yale Boulevard between Arapaho and Belt Line Roads during the repair work. The outage will impact mostly single-family homes located in the area as well as Dartmouth Elementary School. Water is anticipated to be turned back on in the afternoon.

Water Outage Information
Repairs on the water line are estimated to take approximately 6-8 hours, which is anticipated to leave water customers in the Duck Creek neighborhood without service until the afternoon. The duration of the outage is dependent on dewatering the main and type of repair needed.

Traffic Impact Information
One southbound lane of Yale Boulevard between Apollo Road and Belt Line Roads will be closed beginning July 29, 2014. Once the leak is fixed, road repairs will be done in the following days.

Customer Notification
City workers will distribute informational door hangers at homes in the subject area. Calls will also be made to all registered numbers in the anticipated impact area to inform customers. Road signs will be used to inform commuters of traffic impacts.

Recommended Actions
Residential water customers are recommended to fill water bottles and tubs as needed to satisfy short-term water needs. Commercial customers are urged to make any necessary preparations to operate their facilities for the duration of the outage.

The City of Richardson regrets the interruption of service and is working as quickly as possible to make repairs and return normal water service.
