Richardson City Manager Dan Johnson has appointed Daniel Steege to serve as the next Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the City of Richardson. Steege currently serves as an Assistant Director of Enterprise Operations for the City of Houston. His first day serving in Richardson will be July 24, 2017.
“We are very happy to have Daniel join our organization and look forward to adding his extensive experience and training to our information technology team,” said Johnson. “During his 20 years of service he has grown to become a leader in the field of management information systems and we are excited to have his knowledge as we move forward in providing added applications and services for the residents of Richardson.”
Steege holds a Master’s of Science in Computer Systems Management from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s in Business Management from Southern Illinois University. He also holds a mid-management certification from Southern Methodist University. He also has former ties to the Richardson community, having served as an information technology and network operations manager for MCI WorldCom, Inc. in Richardson from 1994 to 1999.
“I am excited to have this opportunity to join Richardson’s Information Technology Department,” said Steege. “I see this as an incredible chance to be a part of the award-winning Richardson team and I look forward to being a part of continuing the City’s reputation as a municipal technology services and management information systems leader.”
Steege’s appointment fills the CIO position that was vacated when former CIO Steve Graves retired after serving 32 years with the City. As Richardson’s Chief Information Officer, Steege will oversee the City’s Information Technology department including network, geographic information and business application services.
