More than 240 artists will display their work at Richardson’s Cottonwood Art Festival, set for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Cottonwood Park. The bi-annual juried show has been a Richardson tradition for 44 years and features art in 14 categories, including ceramics, photography, mixed media, metalwork and many more. Parking and admission are free, and visitors will have the option of purchasing artwork and food from a variety of vendors on site.
This spring show’s featured artist is Michelle Mardis, a Fort Worth native who now resides in Florida. She uses bold colors and large brushstrokes to paint acrylic on canvas, and many of her pieces feature human faces or dogs.
In addition to showcasing the work of top visual artists, Cottonwood will feature musical performers on a live stage. ESCAPE: The Dallas Journey Tribute Band will headline the festival from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Other local bands will provide entertainment throughout the weekend.
