Good news! Richardson’s Family Fourth Celebration at Breckinridge Park is expected to go as scheduled.
The National Weather Service has lowered the chance of precipitation for the day and more importantly for the evening hours. As of this morning, the current chance of rain is 20 percent from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and increases to 30 percent from 1 to 6 p.m. After 6 p.m. the chances of rain decrease back down to 20 percent.
Richardson’s Emergency Management personnel have been informed that if we do receive precipitation it will be in the form of light showers. We cannot completely rule out a thunderstorm, but the chances are low for anything severe.
If you do plan to attend this evening’s festivities, please be sure to bring plenty of water and an umbrella to protect yourself from either rain or shine. Temperatures at the park are expected to be in the high 80’s starting off at 6 p.m. dropping to the low 80’s for the show. The Heat Index could be a problem with temps feeling like they are in the mid 90’s throughout the event.
Winds should not be an issue with average speeds of 8 MPH expected.
Bottom Line: The show is expected to go as scheduled with the best chances for rain at 30 percent from 1 to 6 p.m. Showers are more likely to our north, but any isolated showers that form should produce light rain and be short lived.
