The City of Richardson has received several calls asking about gas availability and some complaints regarding price gouging.
Regarding gas availability, major oil refineries along the Gulf Coast were shut down due to Hurricane Harvey. The refineries are a key source of fuel for the North Texas area, which delivers gas by pipelines to area distributors. Some providers are sending trucks to Oklahoma to bring back to the area, causing lengthy delays in the time that it takes to reach local stations. Meanwhile, pipeline delivery from the Houston area is reportedly slowly coming back online and estimates are that delivery may be mostly restored sometime this weekend. Please monitor the local news for updates regarding fuel availability.
The Texas Attorney General's Office says price gouging complaints can be reported by sending an e-mail to consumeremergency@oag.texas.gov or by calling 800-621-0508. You can also file a complaint at
