Three-minute Siren Test Set for Wednesday
The City’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will conduct a full three-minute test of its Outdoor Warning System at noon Wednesday, Dec. 5. Emergency Management conducts a 30-second test of the Outdoor Warning System the first Wednesday of each month, with a full test at least once per year. The full test allows the system to work through one complete warning cycle as would be done during times of emergency.
Richardson’s outdoor warning system is primarily to alert people who are outdoors to seek shelter during times of severe weather. Use of a weather radio is recommended for people who are indoors during hazardous weather events.
Wednesday’s extended test will be rescheduled to Wednesday, Jan. 2 if there is inclement weather or overcast skies in the area during the scheduled testing time. For more information about the Outdoor Warning System, visit www.cor.net/sirens or call 972-744-0900 to speak with OEM staff.
