RICHARDSON - The 2019 State of the City address, a chance to show the community why Richardson continues to be a great place to create a home or even build a successful business.

“Our success is the result of a history of good planning and city councils have gone through a process to chart a course for the future,” said Mayor Paul Voelker.

During the address, the mayor talked about the telecom corridor, which has helped reshape the city’s commercial office development.  The mayor also highlighted Richardson’s strong local and regional partnerships.

“The projects are very exciting especially the rail system that is coming in and the new construction that is going to the take place, to revitalize the city,” said resident, Charlie Newton.

Back in December, the Dallas Area Rapid Transit or DART – a longtime partner with the city approved funding for the project to build a 26-mile commuter rail corridor that will take people from Plano through Richardson to the DFW International Airport.

“Our partnership with dart has brought lasting benefits to our community and provided economic mobility for the people who depend on transit services every day,” said Voelker.

Natalie Wagner and her husband moved to Richardson from France.  They attend the state of the city address ever year to learn about all the projects that continue to help Richardson grow.

“After three years we can say that we like, very much this town, for the positive energy. We feel at home. We like very much, the neighborhoods. People are very friendly,” said Wagner.

Richardson, a city showing that its ‘value proposition,’ makes it one of the best locations in the metroplex.  Neighbors couldn’t agree more.

“If people just knew what we had in Richardson, they would come running to live here, work here and play here,” said Newton.
