Celebrating RPL's 60th Anniversary
Residents helped the Richardson Public Library this weekend kickoff a series of celebrations for its 60th anniversary.
The event included face painting, contests and a chance for kids to sign up for the Summer Reading Club.
Residents are invited to visit the Library throughout the summer and fall to celebrate the anniversary. There will be a Little Red Wagon exhibit on the first floor documenting the early beginnings of the Richardson Public Library.
“We’re going to have programs now until November celebrating the Library. In November, we will be 60 years old. There is nothing better than coming to the Library, everything is free and there is something for everyone, for all ages,” said Susan Allison, director of Library Services for the Richardson Public Library.
The Richardson Public Library opened its doors in 1959. It moved to its present location in 1970. Visit www.cor.net/Library for information on the Library and to see a list of events celebrating RPL’s 60th anniversary.
