Civil Rights Movement discussed at RPL
The Richardson Public Library hosts several lunchtime lectures throughout the month and this week one of the topics of discussion was on the Civil Rights Movement in the Dallas area.
Guest lecturer, Dr. Marvin Dulaney, a retired professor who has studied and has written about the movement for forty years spoke about the African American experience in Texas.
“I wanted to show them how oppressive and violent the history of Dallas was in terms of race, but at the same time show them the progressive things that happened, that changed Dallas and made it a city that is now very democratic and very receptive to African Americans and Mexican Americans,” said Dr. Marvin Dulaney, guest lecturer.
