New Mobile Food Pantry

Post Date:08/20/2019 5:19 PM

Through a new partnership between the Richardson Independent School District (RISD) and the Network of Community Ministries, many students and their families will be able to put more food on table.

Last week, a new refrigerated box truck was unveiled. It will provide a farmers market-type of food distribution to Liberty Junior High School (Dallas), Audelia Creek Elementary School (Dallas), Memorial Park Academy (Richardson) and Thurgood Marshall Elementary School (Dallas) with more schools to be added soon.

The mobile food truck has been a long-awaited dream come true. Organizations such as the Catholic Foundation, Richardson Rotary and 100 Women of Richardson made donations in order to purchase the vehicle.

The truck will be used to pick up meat, produce, frozen foods and dry goods donated from selected retail partners.

The Network of Community Ministries is a non-profit organization supported by several houses of worship to provide emergency services, food, clothing and utility services to children, adult and seniors.
