Ghost Opera at Eisemann Center

Post Date:09/27/2019 9:43 AM

Tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Eisemann Center, the Chamber Music International opens its 34th season with selections from classical European folk music, and interpretations of works by American jazz legend

Thelonius Monk played on a pipa, a.k.a Chinese lute.

The concert culminates with the Dallas-Fort Worth premiere of Tan Dun’s “Ghost Opera,” featuring string quartet and pipa.

“I want people to feel like that witnessed something incredible that is both uplifting, interesting and unusual. I want people to feel inspired by this journey because ‘Ghost Opera,’ is a journey,” said Cho-Liang Lin from the Chamber Music International.

The event is funded in part by a grant from the Eisemann Arts Innovation Initiative.
