Update On Debris Hauling
Update on the removal of debris from the areas impacted by a tornado on Oct. 20, 2019
City contractors have been hauling debris from the tornado impacted neighborhoods for nearly two weeks now and today (Wed., Nov. 6, 2019) they should surpass 700 trips made by their large trailers that have been working in the most severely impacted areas.
The latest figures reported at the end of the day yesterday show more than 34,000 cubic yards of vegetative debris and nearly 7,700 cubic yards of demolition debris has been hauled away from the site. All the non-vegetative material is being taken directly to the landfill.
There are still a handful of streets that have not been visited by the City’s contracted debris hauler, but that should happen soon. After the first round of debris is removed, the City’s contractor will then follow-up with another round of removal.
All of the vegetative matter is being stored at an offsite location where it will eventually be mulched and recycled through the City’s partnership with Texas Pure Products, which is a partnership between Richardson, Plano, McKinney, Allen, Frisco and the North Texas Municipal Water District to recycle vegetative material for mulch or compost to be sold to the general public or used in local parks or other municipal greenways.
