RPD New Headquarters Officially Opens
The Richardson Police Department celebrated the opening of its new headquarters this past weekend with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The facility, which is located at 200 N. Greenville Ave., is part of the larger Richardson Public Safety Campus funded by the 2015 Bond Program. The entire campus includes the new Fire Station 1/Fire
Department Administration building that opened in October 2019, as well as a 7,000-square-foot police support building to be constructed later this year.
“It’s an amazing building, it’s amazing facility, a lot of hands are in this,” said Richardson Police Chief Jimmy Spivey.
The new police headquarters building features more space for existing and future staff and numerous security and operational enhancements, including secured parking for staff and a new surveillance system. A new glass-enclosed skybridge connects it to the adjacent, existing detention center, which has undergone renovations to its lobby and façade.
“This day is about a new police station, which is part of a broader public service campus here that is going to be impactful to this community in so many ways,” said Richardson Mayor Paul Voelker.
