Spring Creek Nature Area Cleanup
Employees with Fujitsu spent part of their afternoon recently inside the Spring Creek Nature Area helping Richardson Parks Department staff clear away invasive plants.
While City staff operated heavy equipment, Fujitsu volunteers were busy hand-cutting waxleaf ligustrum trees that can grow up to 40 feet in height. The volunteers also dragged branches to a woodchipper where the invasive plants were turned into mulch.
The cleanup took place in a spot where an outdoor education area will be located sometime in the future. The work is in line with the 2015 master plan adopted for the property.
“It feels great to come out here. I love working and partnering with the City of Richardson’s Parks Department. It’s great that we can come out here and help our community,” said Jed Lane, Fujitsu employee.
The City offers numerous opportunities for residents and businesses to volunteer in the community.
