Paint a modern and fun summer Panama hat. Participants can choose a hat that has a pre-drawn unique design as a guide, or a hat that is blank for their own design.

RCAS Exhibit at City Hall/Civic Center

The Richardson Civic Art Society has installed a new exhibit on the north wall of the City Hall/Civic Center’s main hallway, featuring 19 paintings created by RCAS board members. The colorful display includes framed and unframed creations of varying sizes, including oils, watercolors, collage and acrylic mediums.

There are several fun activities to take part in this Memorial Day holiday. Two of the four neighborhood pools, Glenville and Cottonwood, will be open for a nice day of swimming. The Sherrill Park Golf Course will be open for playing. Finally, the Tennis Center will also be open to the public.

In this new wildflower gardening program, you plant the seeds in your very own “plot” in one of several raised garden boxes (located at the City’s recreation centers and Senior Center), and the City’s Parks Department will do the watering. Then come watch as the flowers bloom! A great way to teach gardening to children and/or grow flowers if you don’t have a garden. Seeds and a customizable garden stake are provided.

Time: 8 a.m.-4 p.m. (Planting available through May 31)

Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Club

Join the Richardson Public Library's Summer Reading Club beginning June 1. Children will keep track of their reading with an official reading log. Read books and earn prizes and raffle entries to win a grand prize. Every 10 books or 10 reading hours equals one raffle entry.

Culture in the CORE 

Join the City of Richardson for the inaugural Culture in the CORE celebration in honor of the City’s globally oriented community. The event will feature a variety of international cuisines and vendors, as well as multicultural dance and music performances.

Corporate Recreation Basketball League 

Join this summer for a Corporate Recreation Basketball League. It will be an eight-week season with playoffs for the top four teams. All games will be played at Huffhines Recreation Center on Tuesday nights. Registration ends May 31.
