Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Club

Join the Richardson Public Library's Summer Reading Club. Children will keep track of their reading with an official reading log. Read books and earn prizes and raffle entries to win a grand prize. Every 10 books or 10 reading hours equals one raffle entry.

In this class kids ages 7-11 can choose their favorite character or design and create their own 8-bit pixel key ring or magnet from colorful Perler beads! Materials will be provided while supplies last.

Darbey's Storywalk^®

This is the last day to enjoy the June edition of Darbey's StoryWalk^®. It is all about movement and reading, as it enables visitors to walk along a designated path behind the Library while reading pages of a children's book posted at 16 different stations. This month's featured book is titled "Thunder Boy Jr." by Sherman Alexie and illustrated by Yuyi Morales. In this book we hear thoughts of a young boy who doesn't feel connected to his name. It is an exploration of identity and family. Even with his frustrations with his name, the boy and father have a loving relationship.

Keeping in mind the recent hot daytime temperatures, Parks and Recreation wants to remind dog owners that Richardson’s dog park, Bush Central Barkway, is open late. It provides an opportunity to get outside with your pup in “cooler” evening temperatures. The award-winning, six-acre park includes separate areas for large, small and sedentary dogs as well as an event paddock for party rental.

Time: 6:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. (Thursday-Tuesday), 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m. (Wednesday)

Sparks will fly at the City of Richardson’s annual Family 4^th Celebration. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets and/or lawn chairs and enjoy the evening under the stars.

RCAS Exhibit at City Hall/Civic Center

The Richardson Civic Art Society has installed a new exhibit on the north wall of the City Hall/Civic Center’s main hallway. The colorful display includes framed and unframed creations of varying sizes, including oils, watercolors, collage and acrylic mediums.

Join the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center for Family Fun Days. It is a series of classes for kids ages 6-12 and their parents/guardians. Summer Tennis Camps 

Kids ages 5-12 can join the Huffhines Tennis Center for a summer tennis camp. It will include a chance to learn some new tennis skills, water balloon fun, receive a camp T-shirt and a pizza party.

Junior Golf Camp – Series One 

This camp is for kids whose interest in golf is either high or growing immensely. This is a great class for beginners or those who have previously attended a camp. Golfers will learn putting, chipping and pitching and full swing. For kids ages 5-13.
