RMSIP Snack Drive
High school interns participating in the Richardson Mayor’s Summer Internship Program (RMSIP) have organized the third-annual RMSIP Healthy Kids Snack Drive, benefiting area children. The public is invited to donate kid-friendly snacks through Aug. 1. Donations can be made in person on scheduled dates and times, or pre-selected items may be purchased online via the Healthy Kids Snack Amazon Wish List. (If you select to drop off items in person, RMISP will e-mail you to coordinate a donation drop off date and time.)
Healthy snack items include individual fruit cups, apple sauce cups/squeeze bottles, cereal cups, oatmeal, macaroni and cheese cups, soup cups, pasta cups and juice boxes. The items will be distributed through Network of Community Ministries’ booth at the Richardson ISD “Backpack Bash” on Aug. 5 at Richardson High School. Any leftover items will be distributed to area children by Network.

“Boeing, Boeing”
“Boeing, Boeing” tells the story of French Bachelor Bernard and his lovely female flight attendants. Three flight attendants to be exact, from three different countries and they all believe they’re engaged to Bernard.

Christmas in July Toy Drive
Get into the holiday spirit early as the Warren Center launches its Operation Santa Toy Drive during Christmas in July. This event helps children and their families celebrate the holiday season in a sensory-friendly way. You can shop online or drop off new, unwrapped toys for kids ages 0-7 at The Warren Center, 320 Custer Rd. Experts from the Warren Center picked gifts to help children reach developmental milestones, which can be found on this Amazon Wishlist. All toys will be collected by July 31.

“Summer Symphony (& Sun) Sets”
The CORE District is teaming up with the Richardson Symphony Orchestra for a pop-up event called “Summer Symphony (& Sun) Sets.” This will be picnic style, so bring a blanket, chairs and food to enjoy while watching the concert.

Alamo Drafthouse – Summer Kids Camp - “Free Willy”

Battling the Aging Brain
Much like other parts of the body, the human brain tends to become less agile as people get older. The brain is responsible for movement, thoughts, feelings, memories and behavior. Learn about the brain, the changes you can expect, determining what is normal and what is not and ways to keep your brain healthy.

“Dive-In Movie”
Join the Parks and Recreation Department for a Dive-In Movie night at the Heights Family Aquatic Center where you can watch “Luca.” Food and drinks concessions will be available and outside food and drinks (no alcohol) are permitted. The deep-water pool will be open but slides and attractions will be closed. Children under the age of 9 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older.

Computing 101 with Windows 10
Adults can join this class to gain fundamental computing skills. They will learn how to navigate a Windows 10 laptop or desktop personal computer, operate the basic hardware and peripherals used by computers, locate all the tools needed to adjust a computer’s settings, what to consider when managing privacy in Windows 10 and a few tips on how to do their own troubleshooting.

Cooking Well Workshop – Exploring Other Cultures
These classes provide the tools you need to expand your cultural palate by diving into recipes from the Philippines, Poland, India and Interior Mexico while creating healthy food. The traditional recipes have been modified to contain less saturated fat, lower sodium and less added sugars all while preserving traditional flavors. A membership to the Richardson Senior Center is not required.

Darbey’s StoryWalk®
Enjoy the July edition of Darbey’s StoryWalk®. This month’s book is titled “The Little Book of Joy” written by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu and illustrated by Rafael López. This book serves as a simple reminder to look for joy even in hard times and to share that joy with those around you.
Darbey’s StoryWalk® is all about movement and reading, as it enables visitors to walk along a designated path behind the Library while reading pages of a children’s book posted at 16 different stations.

2023 Summer Family Fun Days: CSI: Combine Bones in the Wetland
This class helps kids ages 6-12 and their parents connect with nature. Families will learn how to identify mammals, birds and reptiles by studying the skeletons of some native creatures that reside at the wetland.
