“The Drowsy Chaperone”
“The Drowsy Chaperone” pays tribute to the Jazz Age shows of the 1920s and the power to transport the audience into a dazzling fantasy and to lift their spirits.

RSO Photo Competition
The Richardson Symphony Orchestra is seeking photographs of Richardson to feature in its November 2023 “American Landscapes” concert. Images selected from the submissions will be projected onto a 440-square-foot screen above the orchestra, part of a choreographed visual and sound experience.
Submitted photos should represent what makes Richardson a special place to live and visit.

Darbey’s StoryWalk®
Enjoy the August edition of Darbey’s StoryWalk®. This month’s book is titled “What the Dinosaurs Did at School” written by Refe and Susan Tuma. This book is a goofy celebration of starting a new school year. Learn lots, have fun and try not to get into too much trouble like these dinos.
Darbey’s StoryWalk® is all about movement and reading, as it enables visitors to walk along a designated path behind the Library while reading pages of a children’s book posted at 16 different stations.

Aromatherapy Presentation
Join the Richardson Senior Center and choose between different essential oils that will blend with a base oil to create a scent that appeals to you. Create a personalized scent to take home and have fun with your friends. Membership to the Senior Center is not required.

UNIDOS Community Meeting
All are welcome as the Richardson Police Department hosts a UNIDOS community meeting. Learn about Parkland Health’s free and low-cost health services, Parkland’s medical financial assistance programs, Catholic Charities’ free literacy program and other resources, and Richardson Police Department safety tips. Presentations will be in Spanish.

“Critic’s Choice” Auditions
The Core Theatre is holding auditions for “Critic’s Choice” by Ira Levin. It tells the story of theatre critic Parker Ballentine whose second wife writes a play which is produced on Broadway. The play is awful, and Parker must decide whether to review the play honestly, while his first wife is trying to win him back.

Japan, Form & Function: The Montgomery Collection

Mat Pilates in the Plaza

3D Printing Beginner
This is an introduction to Tinkercad for adults. It’s a hands-on class where participants will learn to navigate through Tinkercad’s main 3D design resources, manipulate Tinkercad’s basic geometric shapes, export a 3D model for printing, and print on the Library’s 3D printer.

CJ Miller’s “Emotional Rollercoaster”
“Emotional Rollercoaster,” a solo exhibition by Dallas artist CJ Miller. This immersive collection features more than 10 large paintings that are each paired with a specific song to create an environment that takes attendees through various emotions.

Richardson Real Heroes Awards Ceremony
The 13th annual Richardson Real Heroes Awards Ceremony will be an exciting night as the 2023 recipients, Warren Caldwell and Barney Carbajal, are honored for their volunteer service to the Richardson community. The special guest of the evening is Dallas radio broadcast legend Norm Hitzges. Former Richardson City Manager Dan Johnson will conduct an interview and conversation with Hitzges, who will entertain the audience with stories of his 50-year broadcasting career.

Light Up Lockwood

Get On Board Application Reception Event
If you’ve ever thought about volunteering to serve on a City board or commission, this informal, come-and-go event is for you. The Richardson City Council will be present to meet with residents and City staff liaisons for each board and commission will be at separate information tables to answer questions about board service. Attendees will have the opportunity to apply for a board or commission on site.
