Annular Eclipse

Safely Watch the Eclipse

If you’re planning to travel southwest to experience the annular solar eclipse, also known as the Ring of Fire, NASA officials want to make sure you have the right protective eyewear. Eclipse glasses are available to purchase online. Viewing any part of the bright sun through a camera lens, binoculars or a telescope without a special purpose solar filter will cause severe eye injury.

You many also consider making an at-home eclipse projector using a cardboard box, a white sheet of paper, tape, scissors and aluminum foil to watch.

An annular eclipse happens when the moon is at the farthest point in its orbit to Earth during which the light from the sun peaks out around the Moon creating the ring of fire.

Time: 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (Saturday)
