This session at the Richardson Senior Center will give you great ideas on how to start the process of de-cluttering and downsizing for your smaller space. You can also discuss options for getting rid of items that may have value, but you no longer need. Lastly, discuss how to start allowing your adult children to be in the know about what you know. Each attendee will receive a password organizer. Membership to the Senior Center is not required.

Open Houses October 2023

Community Input Open Houses 

Open houses for the Envision Richardson Comprehensive Plan Update and Design for City Hall will take place on Oct. 28. During the open houses, participants will be able to provide input for both projects. Each will be formatted as a come-and-go event, with no formal presentation or start time. Individual stations will be placed throughout the event to gather input. Those who cannot attend the open houses in person will have the chance to provide input and answer the same questions as those who attend. 

  • New City Hall and Municipal Campus (open through Nov. 5) - Click here (takes less than 10 minutes to complete)
  • Envision Richardson Comprehensive Plan Update (open through Nov. 5) - Click here (takes about 20 minutes to complete)

Drug Take Back 2023

Drug Take-Back 

Prevent medications from contaminating our water system/waterways by taking part in the Richardson Police Department’s (RPD) Drug Take Back. It’s part of the biannual National Prescription Drug Take Back program. The event keeps medications from being flushed down a sink drain or toilet and potentially entering our waterways, and helps keep drugs out of the trash, where pets, children and others might acquire them. Intravenous solutions and syringes will not be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens. All solid dosage pharmaceutical product and liquids in consumer containers are accepted. Make sure caps on liquid products are tightly sealed to prevent leakage.

Electronics Recycling 2023

Paper Shredding/Electronics Recycling Event 

The Richardson Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association’s (RCPAAA) annual fall electronics recycling and paper shredding event will take place next weekend at Richardson Square Mall. Most electronic items will be accepted (except old tube style CRTs and TVs). Documents and other paper prone to identity theft will be accepted for shredding. please remove paper from ring binders prior to arrival; do not bring general paper items such as magazines and newspapers, as these can be recycled through the City’s recycling program.

Admission: Free, but donations will be accepted to help cover the costs of the event as well as help support the Richardson Police Department.

Make your own beehive birdhouse in celebration of the 97th anniversary of A.A. Milene’s Winnie the Pooh. Crafts are limited to one per family, but all ages are welcome to attend.

Hear from Dr. Rebecka Katz Thor as she addresses what new monuments are expected to do. Examples from across Europe show the controversies around state-funded commemorations dedicated to difficult heritage, which challenge who and what is celebrated, how historic violence is made visible and how the historical narratives are constructed in public spaces.

Richardson Senior Holiday Bazaar

Visit the annual Richardson Senior Holiday Bazaar! More than 50 senior vendors will be selling handcrafted goods including pottery, jewelry, knitted hats and blankets, paintings and much more. Get unique personal gifts for friends and family just in time for the holiday season. Food will be provided at the Senior Center’s Sip & Snack Café. Membership to the Richardson Senior Center is not required. In preparation for this event, the Senior Center will be closed for setup on Nov. 9.
