UT Dallas New

Annual Texas Guitar Competition and Festival 

The 22nd Annual Texas Guitar Competition and Festival will showcase outstanding classical guitar students and award more than $8,000 in cash prizes. Students compete and attend master classes and concerts by internationally recognized guitarists, with many concerts open to the public.

Pokeman Challenge Gym Badge Challenge

Pokémon Gym Badge Challenge 

Catch ‘em all with Pokémon-inspired tasks. Receive a special Pokémon button upon completion and enter to win the grand prize drawing for your age group. Grand prize drawings will be held at the beginning of March. This event is for ages 3-18. Participants can only enter once and receive one button.

First Fridays at the Eisemann Center 

Join the Eisemann Center on the first Friday of every month to celebrate the artists on display in the Forrest and Virginia Green Mezzanine Gallery with a reception. This month, Nita Patel will present her work “Healing the World Through Art.” Enjoy some light bites, bring your friends and family to meet the artist and enjoy this newest exhibition with other like-minded individuals.

Visual art students in 10th-12th grades can apply to participate in the Emerging Artist Program. They will have the opportunity to win scholarships, awards and even sell their artwork at the international award-winning fine art festival, Cottonwood Art Festival.

This is a class for absolute beginners to gain fundamental computing skills. Participants will learn how to navigate a Windows 10 laptop or desktop personal computer, how to operate the basic hardware and peripherals used by computers, how to locate all the tools you need to adjust a computer’s settings and more.

It's Time Texas - 2024

It’s Time Texas Community Challenge: Yoga 

Enjoy this free yoga class as part of the It’s Time Texas (ITT) Community Challenge.  

The ITT Community Challenge is an annual eight-week statewide health competition, this year ending March 3. To participate in the challenge, download the “ITT Community Challenge” smartphone app and select Richardson to add to the community points.

1st Saturday Walk and Talk Bird Tour 

Learn about the birds that live at the wetland. The tour is geared toward beginner and intermediate birders. Learn how to use binoculars and field guides, keep a life list and identify birds.

Free Tax Prep Help 

The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is offering free tax preparation help through April 15 at Heights and Huffhines Recreation Centers. Those wishing to take part need to complete an AARP tax packet, available at the Library and the recreation centers.
