“Our Town” tells the story of a small town, Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire. Narrated by the “Stage Manager,” follow the Gibbs and Webb families, residents of Grover’s Corners, through 12 years of life changes.

CIT Program

Richardson Counselor in Training Program 

The Richardson Parks and Recreation Counselor in Training (CIT) Program is designed to offer kids ages 13-17 an opportunity to prepare for positions as camp counselors or recreation leaders. Those interested in the CIT program must complete an application process, which includes an application, references and an interview. Applications are now being accepted.

Summer Theatre Camps

Summer Theatre Camps 

Kids and teens can join the Repertory Company Theatre for camps that focus on acting, voice and dance. Students will work together to either put on a performance of “CATS Young Actor’s Edition” or “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” Registration for these camps is now open.  

Time: June 17-29 (Teens ages 12-18, CATS Young Actor's Edition) 
July 15-Aug. 3 (Teens ages 12-18, Beauty and the Beast Jr.)

As a continuation of the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan, the Parks and Recreation Department has launched a study to develop an Aquatics Master Plan, and residents are invited to participate through public meetings.

The IQ® Brew

2024 Summer Dodgeball

Dodgeball at Heights Recreation Center 

Dallas Dodgeball is hosting Thursday night games this summer at Heights Recreation Center for ages 16 and up. The league offers a great way to play a fun sport, stay fit and meet other fun and active people. Players of all skill levels compete in the league, from beginners to experts. The league is a draft league, with all players who register drafted to a team to ensure that teams are balanced, and no one is left out. The registration deadline is May 9.

Bike to Work 2024

Bike to Work Day with DART

Stop by DART’s CityLine/Bush Station for giveaways, brochures and free snacks. Bicycles are welcome on all DART buses and trains. Combining cycling with DART can be a cost-effective, Earth-friendly alternative to commuting in a single-occupancy vehicle.

Grease Collection 2024

Residential Cook Oil/Grease Collection Event 

The Residential Cooking Oil/Grease Collection event that was scheduled as part of Trash Bash has been rescheduled. People can drop off used cooking oil and grease at the Service Center through May 10. The collection location will be in the parking lot adjacent to the southernmost entrance to the Municipal Service Center off Glenville Drive. Use a sealable container and place in the plastic bin located in the parking lot. Please note that motor oil and other automotive fluid is not accepted. Grease dropped off will either be used to create biodiesel or turned into biogas for energy production.

Learn tips for successful outdoor sketching with watercolor. The instructor will demonstrate techniques and provide individual feedback on-site in the park setting.

Attend Richardson’s first Citywide Bicycle Rodeo. This community event is an opportunity for children to learn about bicycle safety and to test their skills in a variety of obstacle courses. There will be bike checks and helmet checks to make sure riders are ready for the summer.

Fly Fishing Workshop - Senior Center

Fly Fishing Workshop 

This event will begin indoors at the Richardson Senior Center with a 30-minute presentation explaining what fly fishing is and sharing examples of where and how it is done. Following the presentation, participants will drive to a local park where fly casting instruction will be given on the grass for one hour. No experience is necessary. All equipment will be provided. The event is limited to 10 attendees. Membership to the Senior Center is not required.
