“Sister Act: A Divine Musical Comedy” 

This musical, based on the hit Whoopi Goldberg film, follows Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime, and the cops hide her in the last place anyone would think to look – a convent.  

Time: 7:30 (Friday & Saturday), 2 p.m. (Sunday)

Senior Center Holiday Bazaar – Registration Open 

If you’re an artist/crafter, age 50 and older and a Richardson resident, you’re eligible to see your creations at the Richardson Senior Center’s annual Holiday Bazaar. Registration fee includes the use of an eight-foot table with two chairs. Nonresidents may sign up starting Aug. 1. 

Time: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (Nov. 8-9)
Location: Richardson Senior Center, 820 W. Arapaho Rd. 
Admission: $35 (registration fee for residents), $40 (registration fee for nonresidents, tax ID required)

Texas Author Con and Book Festival

Attend the Texas Author Con & Book Festival, which is a free book signing event. It will feature nearly 100 authors of various genres that include romance, western, mystery, fantasy, thriller, paranormal, horror, Christian, military and children’s books. There will also be door prizes and discussion panels and book readings throughout both days.

4th Annual Moth Night 

Join the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center this summer to celebrate National Moth Week (July 20-28). Texas Parks & Wildlife Urban Biologist Kieschnick will the special guest speaker. A ticket will include a presentation and access to multiple mothing stations set up at the Center and boardwalk.

Watch “Holes,” a faithful, entertaining adaptation of Louis Sachar’s popular, prize-winning work about a bizarre juvenile-correctional facility run by an intimidating warden. This movie is rated PG and suggested for ages 10 and older.

Late Nite Catechism

“Late Nite Catechism” 

“Late Nite Catechism” is an uproarious piece of theater that takes audience members back – sometimes nostalgically, sometimes fearfully – to the children they once were. The irrepressible Sister teaches an adult catechism class to a roomful of “students” (the audience). Over the course of the play, Sister goes from benevolent instructor, rewarding the “students” for correct answers with glow-in-the dark rosaries and other nifty prizes, to authoritative drill sergeant.

Fine Motor Monday at Huffhines Park 

Kids ages 3-6 can cool off and keep those fine motor skills fine-tuned this summer with fun fine motor activities in the water. Join the Richardson Public Library at the Huffhines Park Pavilion.  Children must be accompanied by an adult. Some activities may contain choking hazards.

Huffhines Mini Summer Camp

Dialogue Institute Dallas 2024-2025 Art Contest 

The Dialogue Institue Dallas announced its 2024-2025 Art Contest’s theme of “Empathy: Walking in Another’s Shoes.” High school and college students from charter, public and private institutions in the DFW area are eligible to participate. The categories include painting/drawing and photography/video. Students can start working on their submissions during their summer break.
