This musical, based on the hit Whoopi Goldberg film, follows Deloris Van Cartier, a wannabe diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime, and the cops hide her in the last place anyone would think to look – a convent.

RCBeboppers Return

The jazz band comprised of Richardson Community Band members will razzle-dazzle the audience with oldies like “I Left my Heart in San Francisco” and new funky tunes like “Backatown.” Catherine Nodurft will entertain everyone with her vocal renditions of “Almost Like Being in Love” and “How High the Moon.”

Dialogue Institute Dallas 2024-2025 Art Contest 

The Dialogue Institue Dallas announced its 2024-2025 Art Contest’s theme of “Empathy: Walking in Another’s Shoes.” High school and college students from charter, public and private institutions in the DFW area are eligible to participate. The categories include painting/drawing and photography/video. Students can start working on their submissions during their summer break.

Inclusive Swim & Play Days 

Richardson’s Inclusive Swin & Play Days are specific days that you can bring your family members with a disability or special needs to swim and play free of charge for almost two hours before the general public is allowed into the pool.   

Time: 10-11:50 a.m. (Aug. 9) 
Location: Heights Family Aquatic Center, 709 W. Arapaho Rd.  
Admission: Free for individuals with a disability or special needs

Adaptive Summer Luau 

The luau is coming to the Richardson Heights Family Aquatics Center. Come out for a genuine luau feast, swimming, sliding, lounging and an authentic Hula Dance show to top off the evening’s entertainment.
