The IQ® Brew  

This presentation will cover transitioning from corporate to entrepreneurship, starting a venture-backed tech company and insights into the auto industry’s current state. Also hear from founder and CEO of Buyable. He will speak about Buyable’s innovative approach using embedded insurance to address a significant gap in auto lending.  

The IQ® Brew is a free, public networking and educational series hosted at the Richardson IQ®HQ featuring short presentations from entrepreneurs, small business owners and subject-matter experts.

Inclusive Swim & Play Days 

Richardson’s Inclusive Swim & Play Days are specific days that you can bring your family members with a disability or special needs to swim and play free of charge for almost two hours before the general public is allowed into the pool.

John Bunker Sands Wetland Center

3rd Saturday Guided Boardwalk Tour  

Learn about the wetland’s plants and animals and the fascinating history of the property. You can also learn about the innovative design of the wetland, the relationship the wetland has with water supply and the interaction between human engineering and nature.

This is an introduction to Tinkercad. It’s a hands-on class where participants will learn how to navigate through Tinkercad’s main 3D design resources, manipulate Tinkercad’s basic geometric shapes, export a 3D model for printing, and how to print on the Library’s 3D printer.

Cooking Well August 2024

Cooking Well, Exploring Cultures 

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is hosting “Cooking Well, Exploring Cultures,” a four-week, hands-on cooking series consisting of lessons on the food practices of Poland, the Philippines, India and the Interior Mexican region. The program introduces new recipes and cooking techniques and aims to improve the health knowledge and confidence level of participants in cooking diverse foods.

Adaptive Summer Luau 

Meet at the Heights Recreation Center to kick off the Adaptive Summer Luau. The evening will start with a genuine luau feast. Then head to the Heights Family Aquatic Center for some swimming sliding and lounging. Finally, the evening will end at the Heights Recreation Center with an authentic Hula dance show.  Attendees must register by Aug. 13.

Fall Prevention - Senior Center

Fall Prevention and Vestibular Health in Aging Adults 

This talk will cover risk factors related to falls in the senior population, as well as strategies to avoid falls, ways to spot vestibular dysfunction that can lead to falls and basic exercises to build strength and enhance balance. There will be live demonstrations of certain exercises, testing techniques and more.
