“The Horror” 

UT Dallas’ SP/N Gallery presents “The Horror,” an exhibition featuring artists who use the horror genre to create disturbing, mystical, romantic and comic effects. It includes painting, sculpture, video, new media and a special film screening.

Oct. 23

Dialogue Institute Dallas 2024-2025 Art Contest 

The Dialogue Institute Dallas announced its 2024-2025 Art Contest’s theme of “Empathy: Walking in Another’s Shoes.” High school and college students from charter, public and private institutions in the DFW area are eligible to participate. The categories include painting/drawing and photography/video. Students can start working on their submissions during their summer break.

Artist Showcase Open House 

View artwork created by senior students that attend art classes at the Richardson Senior Center. This is a great way to support local seniors in the community.

Iceland and the Hunt for the Northern Lights 

Spewing volcanoes, icy glaciers, black sand beaches, geysers and majestic waterfalls await. Join the Richardson Public Library and Professor Steve Solosky, also known as the Traveling Professor, as he shares when to visit Iceland, what to see, where to eat and where to stay. This program is for those 50 and older. Attendees are welcome to bring a lunch.

“Heathers: The Musical” 

This musical unveils the story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy misfit who ascends the ranks of Westerberg High’s ruthless clique, the Heathers. When Veronica falls for the dangerously alluring new student, J.D., the stage is set for a tale of love, betrayal and revenge.

“Little Shop of Horrors” 

This is a nonstop blast, sci-fi horror comedy, love story and rock musical that has become one of the most treasured pieces of American musical theatre. The story follows a luckless florist shop worker, Seymour, who raises a wisecracking carnivorous plant that develops a craving for human blood.

“Anatomy of a Murder” 

After losing his re-election bid for District Attorney. Paul Biegler is not looking forward to becoming a defense attorney. However, his first case is sensational. A lieutenant is accused of murdering the bartender who allegedly assaulted his wife. It’s a high stakes battle of wit and determination, as Biegler uses every device to save the officer’s neck.

Adaptive Halloween Bash 

Registration is now open for the annual Adaptive Halloween Bash. Enjoy a night of dinner, music, dancing, meeting new friends and socializing with old friends and prizes. There will be a costume contest, so plan to come dressed in your favorite Halloween costume.

This is a class for absolute beginners to gain fundamental computing skills. Attendees will learn how to navigate a Windows 10 laptop or desktop personal computer, how to operate the basic hardware and peripherals used by computers, how to locate all the tools you need to adjust your computer’s setting, what to consider when managing your privacy in Windows 10, and a few tips on how to do your own future troubleshooting.

Registration is open for the 19th Annual Richardson Gobble Hobble. This event, featuring a Family Fun Run and 5K, benefits the Richardson Boys & Girls Club. There will be a Fun Zone, which includes a free photo booth, balloon artist and street games.
