Work will begin on Segment 2 of the Custer Parkway Improvement Project the week of Dec. 2, weather permitting. Segment 2 stretches from Canyon Creek Drive to Lookout Drive. Work on Segment 1, from Campbell Road to Canyon Creek Drive, began earlier this month.

Construction on the project is being performed in segments, with the waterline, sanitary sewer and storm drain installations taking place first, followed by pavement replacements. To allow for enough construction space for waterline installation in Segment 2, all traffic will be shifted to the northbound lanes (the east side of the roadway) with one lane open in each direction.  Additionally, vehicles cannot be parked on the street while construction is taking place. Trash and recyclable service in the alleys should not be impacted.

The Custer Parkway Improvement Project involves the reconstruction of Custer Parkway from Campbell Road to the President George Bush Turnpike. Work is being conducted in four segments:

• Segment 1 - Campbell Road to Canyon Creek Drive
• Segment 2 - Canyon Creek Drive to Lookout Drive
• Segment 3 - Lookout Drive to Renner Road
• Segment 4 – Renner Road to the President George Bush Turnpike
