The Nutcracker - CCBT 2024

“The Nutcracker” - Collin County Ballet Theatre 

Directors Kirt and Linda Hathaway and Maestro Hector Guzman with the Plano Symphony Orchestra bring two fantastic evening of performances in Clara’s magical journey of the Land of Sweets. International ballet artists Taras Domitro and Daynelis Munoz join the artists of Collin County Ballet Theatre.

Dialogue Institute of Dallas Art Contest

Dialogue Institute Dallas 2024-2025 Art Contest 

The Dialogue Institute Dallas announced its 2024-2025 Art Contest’s theme of “Empathy: Walking in Another’s Shoes.” High school and college students from charter, public and private institutions in the DFW area are eligible to participate. The categories include painting/drawing and photography/video.

Time: Submission deadline is now Dec. 31

Christmas Lights

CityLine LIGHTS 

Join CityLine this holiday season to see more than half a million holiday lights that brighten CityLine in a cheerful glow. The moving icicle-styled lights in the trees and overhead lights draped over the plaza lawn will serve as a memorable backdrop for happy holiday memories. There will also be an 18-foot Christmas tree that will stand tall in the plaza for you to capture the perfect festive photo with friends, family and pets.

Explore New On-Campus Museum, Asian Art Galleries 

If you’re looking for something to do over the holidays, consider paying a visit to Richardson’s newest (and only) museum: The Edith and Peter O’Donnell Jr. Athenaeum Phase I Museum on the UT Dallas campus. Currently in the museum’s Asian art galleries, the Crow Museum of Ancient Art is presenting, “Ancien t Echoes, Modern Voices: The Crow Collection Goes Beyond,” artworks defining Asia as endlessly diverse, and not of one place, time, or idea.

Embrace the holiday season with Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuéllar and Ballet Folklorico del Rio Grande as they invite you to celebrate “Campana Sobre Campana: Christmas in Mexico.” This show is named after the beloved Adalusian Christmas Carol and brings cherished Mexican traditions to life in a magical celebration of the season.

New Years Break Camp (2025)

New Year’s Camp 

Registration is now open for the Heights Recreation Center for a New Year’s Camp. Kids ages 5-11 can enjoy various games, activities and winter-themed crafts both indoors and outdoors (weather-permitting). Please bring a lunch, water bottle, closed-toe shoes, a snack and warm clothes for the playground. An outside business will visit the camp each week to host a program.

Kidokinetics Pickleball

Pickleball Powered by Kidokinetics – Registration Open

Kidokinetics Sports Play 

This program is designed to introduce kids to a variety of sports and activities like golf, tennis, basketball, baseball, football, hockey and more. Each week will feature a warmup, a new sport or activity, free play, cool down and an age-appropriate anatomy and physiology lesson.

Texas Legends Basketball

Adaptive Trip to Texas Legends Basketball 

Join the Heights Recreation Center and see the Texas Legends play basketball in Frisco. Travel by bus to Comerica Center. You will eat at Norma’s Cafe just down the street before the event. Please bring money for food.
