Annual Richardson Art and Essay Contest 

Writers and artists are invited to participate in Richardson’s Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. and Black History Month Art and Essay contests. Winning works will be published by the City with authors/artists receiving $200 and certificates of achievement from the Mayor and City Council. Students must live in Richardson, or attend school with the city, to be eligible to enter.

2024 City Photo Contest Winners and Judge’s Exhibition 

The Best of Show and Best of Division Winner’s Exhibit from the City’s 2024 Photo Contest, as well as the 2024 Photo Contest Judge’s Exhibit, will be on display. The Best of Show and Best of Division Exhibit features the work of Kaye Hargis, David Steger and Ava Dunn, while the Judge’s Exhibit features the photographs of Rebecca Deragon, Hector Reyes and Robin Thompson.

Leadership Workshop Luncheon – Leading Kindness to Create a Culture of Excellence 

Join Altrusa International Richardson for a Leadership Workshop Luncheon. Registration closes the evening of Jan. 15. Speakers at the event will include Kathy Chamberlain of Chamberlain Ballet, Wendi Costlow of EVP Independent Financial and Rebecca Silvestri of Local Profile Magazine.

“A Life in the Theatre” 

This show portrays the changing relationship between John and Robert, two actors – one older and experienced, the other a young up-and-comer – working together in a repertory company.

The Siriya Ensemble 

The Siriya Ensemble is a music group based in Bushehr, in the southern part of Iran. The ensemble was officially formed in 2016 and is composed of local musicians from Bushehr who are focused on incorporating traditional southern Iranian music into their performances.

123 Andrés Family Concert

Healthier Texas Community Challenge – Dance Fitness 

Join the Healthier Texas Community Challenge for a free group dance fitness class at Huffhines Recreation Center.  

Formerly known as It’s Time Texas Community Challenge, Healthier Texas Community Challenge is an eight-week health competition between communities across the state of Texas. Compete and earn points by eating healthy, being active and staying hydrated.

Hanging Letter Art with Mixed-Media Decoupage 

Join the Richardson Public Library and have fun decorating a ceramic capital letter with paper, vintage ephemera, beads, fabric scraps and more. Then, hang it with a ribbon or beaded wire. This program is for adults and teens.

Valentine Garland Workshop 

Join the Richardson Senior Center to bring a little love into your space by creating a fun Valentine’s Day-themed garland to decorate or give to someone special. Learn how to make the pompoms and tassels as well as some basic hand sewing. Put it all together with some beads and creativity to make these personalized decorations.

Teen Program – Gravestone! A Wild West Murder Mystery 

Teens ages 13-18 can kick up their cowboy boots ‘n’ spurs and join the Richardson Public Library for a wild west themed murder mystery. Registration is only required for those wanting to play a character. Everyone else can play as a spectator.

3rd Saturday Guided Boardwalk Tour

“Dog Man: The Musical” 

“Dog Man: The Musical” is a production based on the worldwide, bestselling series from Dav Pilkey, the creator of “Captain Underpants” and “Cat Kid Comic Club.” Best buds George and Harold have been creating comics for years, but now that they’re in 5th grade, they figure it’s time to level up and write a musical based on their favorite character, Dog Man, the crime-biting sensation who is part dog, part man and all hero. With the head of a dog and the body of a policeman, Dog Man loves to fight crime and chew on the furniture.
