Annual Richardson 2025 Art Contest 

Artists are invited to participate in Richardson’s Annual Black History Month Art contest. Winning works will be published by the City with artists receiving $200 and certificates of achievement from the Mayor and City Council. Students must live in Richardson, or attend school within the city, to be eligible to enter.

2024 – AARP Free Tax Preparation Help 

Tax preparation appointments are available and will be held at both the Heights and Huffhines Recreation Centers. You must complete an AARP tax packet, available at the Library and Recreation Centers. You must also bring important documents such as a government-issued ID, the prior year’s tax returns and Social Security cards.

DART Silver Line Biannual Meeting 

Attend the DART biannual community meeting to get an update on the Silver Line Regional Rail Project. Attendees will learn about Silver Line project milestones, construction updates, system-wide operating plan and fares, and upcoming public hearings.

The RISD Council of PTAs will host a used book fair. You can get gently used books and other items such as DVDs, comic books, board games and video games. All you need to do is purchase a bag and fill it!

“The Murder of Roger Ackroyd”

In this thrilling stage adaptation of Agatha Christie's ingenious 1926 novel, the tiny village of King’s Abbot is rocked by scandal when Roger Ackroyd, the wealthiest man in town is found dead shortly after the apparent suicide of his fiancée.

C-TECH Kids Club – M&M Survival Challenge 

Kids ages 9-12 can join the Richardson Public Library to experiment with exciting STEM activities! In the wild there are two types of animals: the hunters and the hunted. Kids will discover the power of camouflage as a hungry predator hunting for M&M prey.

Lunar New Year 

Join the City of Richardson, The CORE District and the Dallas Chinese Community Center and attend the 2025 Lunar New Year festival, celebrating the Year of the Snake. This event will feature stunning dragon and lion dances, musical and martial arts demos, art making, calligraphy, specialty booths and cultural performances.

The Center for Asian Studies at UT Dallas, Texas Cultural Exchange Center, (TCEC) and Dallas Huayan Orchestra jointly present a multicultural arts festival showcasing ethnic instrumental performances, graceful ballet and Bollywood Dance. Celebrate Eastern and Western cultures and the 2025 Lunar New Year.

“They Dance! They Sing!” 

Chamberlain Ballet and Plano Civic Chorus present: “They Dance! They Sing!” This unique collaborative event will feature guest performers including the Berkner High School A Cappella Choir and players from the Richardson Symphony Orchestra. A celebration of dancing and singing, the concert will feature the work “Fern Hill,” with music by John Corigliano and poetry by Dylan Thomas, and will include all four ensembles in a stunning multi-discipline performance.

Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández

Founded in 1952 by dancer and choreographer Amalia Hernández, Ballet Folklórico brings together the music, dance and costume of Mexican folklore from pre-Columbian civilizations through the modern era. With its permanent home at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, one of Mexico City’s most historic venues, the company has developed choreography for 40 ballets, composed of 60 folk dancers and musicians who have performed extensively across Mexico and abroad.
