The City of Richardson has received an update from the Dallas County Elections Office regarding the ballot error affecting early voting in Dallas County for the Richardson City Council election.

As of this evening, Dallas County Election officials have identified the cause as a coding error, and Elections staff are actively distributing updated programming to correct the ballot on voting machines. The correction is expected to be available at most Dallas County early voting locations by 8 a.m. tomorrow, with updates being deployed to all 61 voting centers in Dallas County. Priority is being given to locations nearest the Richardson city limits, and some centers located further away from the city may be corrected later in the day. All updates are expected to be made tomorrow.

Voters who cast their ballots today will still have their votes counted but are not eligible to vote again. The outcome of the affected races will not be impacted, as those races are uncontested. Collin County voters are not affected by the ballot issue.
