Forrest and Virginia Green Mezzanine-Gallery 

The Forrest and Virginia Green Mezzanine-Gallery is dedicated to showcasing the best of local and regional artists. The Gallery is located on the upper level of the lobby overlooking the Leftwich Grand Foyer. The current exhibit, which runs through May 25, showcases 60 pieces of art from the Richardson Civic Art Society’s 59th Annual Juried Art Exhibition, including oils, photography, water media, digital and mixed media. 

Time: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. (Monday-Saturday), and during all public events

 Drop-In Tech Help 

Drop-in Tech Help is our quick tech help option at the library. This program is available every Thursday. No registration is required, just walk in and spend 5-15 minutes with a librarian to ask your tech questions. This program covers:  

  • ebooks/eReaders  

  • Basic computer navigation  

  • Basic app use  

  • Basic cellphone use  

  • Basic tablet use  

  • General internet instruction  

  • Research beyond Google  

  • Using library electronic resources

Yoga Mat

Morning Yoga at Huffhines Park  

All ages are invited to gather under the trees near the bridge outside Huffhines Recreation Center each Saturday morning for yoga led by Renate Racher. Practice wellness and get fit! Bring a mat, props (if desired) and water. Parking is available free at the recreation center and at the park.

Heights Family Aquatics Center

Swim Season Opens at Heights Family Aquatic Center 

The Heights Family Aquatic Center will be open Saturday, May 24-Monday, May 26. It will then re-open with the four City of Richardson neighborhood pools on Saturday, May 31.

Time: Noon-8 p.m. (May24-26)

Admission: $4 daily (ages 4 and older; ages 3 and under are free)

Game On: Board Games at the Library  

Adventure to the beyond with a librarian-led game time. There will be a lot of options available for solo or group play such as Settlers of Catan, Pandemic, Sagrada and more. This program is for adults.

Memorial Day Tribute  

Join the Richardson Community Band and honor those who have died while serving their country. With a special nod to the anniversary of World War II, the band will get your feet stomping and get your flag waving! You will get to hear the great Billy Bonner singing some patriotic favorites.  And don’t forget the Stars and Stripes to make your heart swell with pride for our country!

America's Diamond

“America’s Diamond” 

This Neil Diamond Legacy Concert Tribute stars the number one Diamond performer, Jay White. Jay and his band have performed more than 10,000 concerts around the world, authentically recreating the sound, power and passion of the Diamond classics many love. “Cherry Cherry,” “Sweet Caroline,” “America” and many more.

Play a round (or two) of disc golf at Breckinridge Park. The disc golf course at Breckinridge Park was designed by Eric McCabe, one of the most-renowned disc golf course designers, and the winner of the 2010 Professional Disc Golf Association World Championship.

Adaptive Summer Luau – Registration Deadline May 27

This is going to be one big pool party. Come out to the Heights Family Aquatics Center for a genuine luau feast, swimming, sliding, lounging and an authentic hula dance show to top off the evening’s entertainment. There will be something for everyone.

Bike-friendly Driver Class 

Richardson’s Transportation and Mobility Department is hosting a driver-focused training class to educate motorists on how to be careful when driving around cyclists. Topics covered include why you see cyclists riding in the roadways and specific movements they may make, while helping drivers develop a shared understanding for all road users.

Movies in the Park and Dive-In Movies

Movies in the Park – “The Incredibles” 

Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy this free, family-friendly Movies in the Park event. The movie of the night will be “The Incredibles.” There will be concessions for sale including popcorn, hotdogs, nachos, cotton candy, snow cones and drinks.

Dive-In Movies – Tickets on Sale 

Splash into the lap pool or float through the lazy river during these Dive-In Movie events at Heights Family Aquatics Center. On Friday, July 18 bring the family out to watch “Moana 2.” Then, on Friday, August 15, those 18 years and older can watch “Mean Girls.” Lifeguards will be on duty. All rules of the pool must be followed.
