“Angel Street aka Gaslight” 

Mysterious things have been happening in the Manningham household: items go missing, their dog is injured and Mrs. Manningham hears footsteps coming from the locked, uninhabited top floor. She fears that she is going mad—that is certainly what Mr. Manningham believes. But when Detective Rough arrives to visit Mrs. Manningham while she is alone, questions arise and secrets are revealed about her husband. Suddenly, insanity is no longer the biggest threat she faces as she discovers she has married a dangerous man.

T(h)inker Thursdays – Crazy Hair Art 

Kids ages 9-12 can design a quirky portrait of themselves with crazy hair using an instant photo of themselves during this Richardson Public Library-sponsored program. Inspired by the zentangle method, they will learn how to draw fine lines and details to create interesting patterns.

Movies in the Park – “The Parent Trap” 

Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy this free, family-friendly Movies in the Park event. The movie of the night will be “The Parent Trap.” There will be concessions for sale including popcorn, snacks, snow cones and drinks.

Summer Adult Venture Days

Adaptive Summer Adult Venture Days 

This is the perfect opportunity for adults with special needs to venture out from home during the summer to explore new activities outdoors and indoors to help increase their cognitive, physical and social skills all while having fun in a group setting. The group will go the Frontiers of Flight Museum and Love Field Airport for a morning of amazement before heading to Alamo Drafthouse to eat lunch and watch a movie on the big screen.  

Time: 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (Friday) 
Location: Leave from Heights Recreation Center, 711 W. Arapaho Rd.  
Admission: $50 (residents), $52 (nonresidents)

Join the Richardson Senior Center for a two-day workshop to create a perfect plant hanger for displaying pots, plants or flowers anywhere in your home. It can be used for accessories for your bedroom or bathroom and many other ideas. Membership to the Richardson Senior Center is not required.

A Tour of the Solar System

A Tour of the Solar System 

Kids ages 3-8 can join the Richardson Public Library for a fun and interactive tour of our Solar System. They will learn about how solar systems form, the Sun and our planets, the Kuiper Belt and more. Handouts and prizes will be available. Presented by NASA Solar System Ambassador Michelle Wilde.

3rd Saturday Guided Boardwalk Tour 

Learn about the wetland’s plants, animals and the fascinating history of the property. You can also learn about the innovative design of the wetland, the relationship the wetland has with water supply and the interaction between human engineering nature.

The general public knew Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt as a happily married couple, yet several women in Roosevelt’s life saw him differently. They knew what most American’s didn’t, that his body had been ravaged by polio. Roosevelt’s mistresses joined with reporters, photographers, White House staff and Secret Service agents to deliberately hide FDR’s disability. Join the Richardson Senior Center for this discuss.

CRASE: Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event – Registration Open 

The Richardson Police Department is offering CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) training to the community. This important, evidence-based program was developed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center at Texas State University. CRASE is designed to empower civilians with proactive strategies to help survive an active shooter or other violent critical incident.

Movies in the Park and Dive-In Movies

Dive-In Movies – Tickets on Sale 

Splash into the lap pool or float through the lazy river during these Dive-In Movie events at Heights Family Aquatics Center. On Friday, July 18 bring the family out to watch “Moana 2.” Then, on Friday, Aug. 15, those 18 years and older can watch “Mean Girls.” Lifeguards will be on duty. All rules of the pool must be followed.
