NETWORK TO PROVIDE HOLIDAY SUPPORT TO HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

The Richardson Fire Department is getting into the holiday spirit this month, as it begins collecting toys and food for Network of Community Ministries. The department’s Annual Toy and Food Drive kicks off Nov. 24 and runs through Dec. 15, with donation drop-off sites located at city facilities.

Network’s Toyland Express Program is a year-long endeavor that requires a lot of support through donations and volunteers willing to lend a hand. Donations are collected for nearly a year leading up to this program. Every toy or article of clothing collected this year paves the way to success next year with the bulk of donations collected in December through drives like the Fire Department’s.

This is a popular program for Network as it brings holiday to cheer to so many families. It also allows families to focus on budgeting for necessities while still taking part in the joy of the holidays they otherwise might go without.

If you are looking to donate, new toys are accepted year-round at Network. You can also contact info@network.org to schedule a drop-off. While all new items are accepted, Network is seeking more items for babies and pre-teens. Some of these gifts may include:

  • Baby toys (sensory items)
  • Building blocks
  • Blankets
  • Craft kits
  • Sunglasses
  • Accessories

If you would like to donate toys, food or clothing to the Richardson Fire Department’s drive, you can drop items off at the following locations:

  • Richardson Fire Stations
  • Service Center, 1260 Columbia Dr.
  • City Hall, 2360 Campbell Creek Blvd., Suite 525
  • Library, 2360 Campbell Creek Blvd., Suite 500
  • Police Support Building, 200 N. Greenville Ave.
